Frank Bibelhausen, a prominent citizen of Shawano and Shawano County died at his home just north of the city, yesterday morning at two o'clock after a lingering illness with cancer of the stomach. His family, with the exception of one son, Louis, who is serving his country, was at his side when he passed away. The funeral will be held tomorow forenoon at the house.
The deceased was born in Brown County December 31st, 1855. At the age of sixteen years, he came with his parents' family to Shawano, where two of his brothers were already established in the meat business. Arriving at the age of maturity, he went into business for himself and for many years was the proprietor of a grocery store which served his patrons of those earlier days. He was fair in his dealings and those same old customers are numbered among his best friends who now mourn his loss.
On January 15th, 1878 He was married to Miss Margaret
Hoffman (Hartman)
of the town of Washington. Seven children were born to the union and
all
are left to mourn the loss of a kind and faithful father. The three
boys
are Henry and Peter, who live in Shawano, and Louis who is in the
United
States Navy. The four daughters are Marie (Mrs. Achten), Kathryn,
Gertrude,
and Margaret. He also leaves besides his wife, two sisters, one of
whom,
Mrs. Marie Oppenberg of Ladysmith has been here for the passed two
weeks,
and Mrs. Veronica Schraa of Antigo who arrived today to attend the
funeral.
In the passing of Mr. Bibelhausen, there departs a man who has lived
well
and honestly and who leaves behind a clean record.
